Ding! Ding! Ding!

If you happened to be watching MSNBC or Fox Business this morning, you may have asked yourself, “What is the incredibly well-dressed Hotlist team doing on the Times Square big screen?”

Great question, Hotlisters! The NASDAQ Stock Exchange thinks Only In The Alley is a pretty cool idea and supports Hotlist and other rising New York City startups. What better way to celebrate the intersection of technology and finance than invite Hotlist and SNAP Interactive to ring the stock market opening bell?

It’s a huge honor, and we’re very proud to represent the explosion of NYC’s tech community.

Check out nasdaq.com for the full story and more adorable pics of the Hotlist team and other Only In The Alley entrepreneurs.

Only In The Alley

We think tech entrepreneurship is pretty rad. We also think that New York City has fast become one of the greatest places to build a company, with unique opportunities and unparalleled proximity to most of the world’s major industries. That’s why we’re excited when Hotlist’s Cofounder and CEO, Chris Mirabile, partners with Cliff Lerner of SNAP Interactive to create the first annual Only In The Alley calendar. The calendar, which features 12 successful NYC startups in various stages of growth, contains a great intro by Adam Ostrow of Mashable and contributions by Mayor Bloomberg’s office and FDNY.

You can check out the entire calendar at the official site Only In The Alley or in the Mashable article.

And, of course, thanks to everyone who came out for our huge release party on Friday at The Ainsworth in NYC. I hope all the entrepreneurs liked their huge blown up pictures on the wall!

Hello!

This is Katy, and I’m the lead designer at Hotlist. I wanted to take a moment to say hi and let you all know what I do here.

Since the launch of Hotlist 2.0., we have been getting some awesome feedback from all of you, and I’m currently working on projects that are going to better improve usability on the site and the iphone app. Aside from all the web projects that I work on, I always get super excited when we have marketing or promotional print projects to design. Sometimes, I use a bit of an “arts and crafts” style, which basically means I like getting my hands dirty, cutting things up, and glueing things together. It reminds me of the good old days in school! I also love changing my designs from print media to web, and there are definitely days where I just go crazy and let my creativity flow…

The Holiday season is here, so I’ll be doing some traveling to visit the family, making stops here and there on the West Coast and in Asia. This is when the Hotlist iphone app comes in super handy. Hopefully, I’ll see some familiar faces pop up on my list when I’m back home. The perfect time to grab coffee with old friends and catch up! Happy Holidays!
